Law Commission recommends death penalty only for cases related to terror, waging of war

New Delhi, Aug.31 : The Law Commission on Monday recommended the abolition of death penalty in all crimes except terrorism offences and waging war.
India is one of 59 countries where the death penalty is still awarded by courts.

Recently, the issue was debated in the run-up to the July 30 hanging of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon. (ANI)
