Kyrgios says ‘deserved punishment’ for insulting Wawrinka

Wellington, Aug. 30 :Controversial Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has admitted that he deserved to be punished for his on-court ‘insulting remark’ to Stan Wawrinka, but added that he was not embarrassed by it at all.

The 20-year-old said he understood he needs to keep everything in order and to be on his best behaviour out on the tennis court, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The Aussie bad boy further admitted that he never thought his remark would get picked up like that, but as it had happened, he has learnt a lesson from it.

Kyrgios said he has apologised to Wawrinka both publically and privately, but if it has not been accepted, it was none of his business.

Earlier, Kyrgios, who will play his first-round match of the US Open against Andy Murray, was handed a suspended ban and a fine by the ATP Tour for his remark against Wawrinka in a recent Rogers Cup clash in Montreal, Canada.
