Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Monday urged the Central Government to release arrears of funds meant for development of backward districts of Telangana.
KTR, along with TRS MPs Jithender Reddy and Konda Vishveshwar Reddy, called on Union Minister for Rural Development Virender Singh in New Delhi on Monday. He briefed the Union Minister on the arrears for the financial year 2013-14 and also the current year. Speaking to media persons later, he said that the Centre has been asked to introduce direct funding for Gram panchayats. He said uniformity should be maintained in release of funds for local bodies across the country. (INN)
