KTR describes opposition’s protest as political stunt

Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has described the protest by opposition parties over farmers’ issue as a political stunt.

Speaking to media persons after the adjournment of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, KTR said that all opposition parties were working with a single agenda of defaming the TRS Government. He claimed that the State Government was taking several measures to prevent farmers’ suicides. He said both Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy gave detailed statement in the House on Wednesday on the issue of farmers. However, the opposition parties were organising protest only to gain political mileage.

KTR said parties having different ideologies have joined hands only to defame TRS Government. He said Congress, TDP and BJP have no sympathies towards farmers. He said that the Assembly discussed the farmers’ issue for two days. While opposition members spoke for 6 hours 23 minutes, the ruling party members got only one hour 50 minutes to speak on the same. Despite this, the opposition parties were disrupting the proceedings of the House, he alleged. (INN)
