Kohli disappointed by Bangalore Test wash-out

Virat-Kholi

Bengaluru, Nov. 18 : Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday has expressed his disappointment after the second Test of the four-match series against South Africa was called-off because of persistent rain and wet outfield on the fifth and final day, here at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

After a dominating performance by India on Day One, the match was washed out for four consecutive days.

Kohli said that his side had a great chance of putting the visitors under pressure after their dominant performance on day one.

“It was very disappointing especially the second and third day were really frustrating because we had a very good first day and the toughest task is to set up the Test match and then you have to win on those important moments later on. So we were on course to do that to get control on the important moment in the game and capitalize. We had a good chance of putting South Africa under more pressure , but weather turned out to be in such a way that we had no control over it for the course of next four days,” the 27-year-old told media here.

“It’s always annoying for any side even if you have the momentum or you don’t have the momentum to come to the ground and have no play. I think that was disappointed as far as team’s motive to play positive cricket is concerned,” he added.

Earlier, replying to South Africa’s first innings score of 214, the hosts scored a commanding 80-0 at stumps on day one, with Murali Vijay (unbeaten 28) and Shikhar Dhawan (unbeaten 45).

India are currently leading the series by 1-0 following their 108-run win over South Africa at Mohali.

The two sides will now play their third Test at Nagpur from November 25. (ANI)
