Kiren Rijiju leaves for BRICS Migration Ministers Conference

New Delhi, Oct 7 : Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, today left for Sochi, Russia, to attend the First BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Ministerial Migration Meeting tomorrow.

The meeting is aimed at bringing BRICS member nations to consensus on the basic issues concerning migration in the BRICS nations.

The Migration Ministers of BRICS Member Nations will discuss various issues relating to migration including the opportunities, challenges and problems pertaining to regular and illegal migration in the BRICS member states. Each Minister will make a Country Statement about the issue of migration.

The meeting will also discuss subjects like “Migration as the factor of the successful development of the society in the context of the migration processes’ influence on the socio-economic and demographic situation in the world” and “New challenges and strategies in the frames of the transnational character of the migration flows”.
