Kiran Bedi demands ‘fair’ probe in IPS officer threat incident

New Delhi, July 11: Former IPS officer and BJP leader Kiran Bedi on Saturday demanded that the investigation into the IPS officer threat incident in Uttar Pradesh should be conducted by someone other than the state’s police to ensure fairness.

“This should be investigated immediately and independently. And, to ensure a fair probe, this should be investigated by someone other than the Uttar Pradesh Police,” Bedi told ANI here.

Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, earlier in the day, filed a complaint against Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav at the Hazratganj Police Station in Uttar Pradesh .

Thakur had earlier alleged that Mulayam had threatened him over the phone, asking him to ‘mend his ways’.

The IPS officer said he was worried about his and his wife’s safety. (ANI)
