Kheema Mattar


1 pound ground goat meat
1 cup diced onions
3 medium ripe tomatoes diced
1 sprig curry leaves
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste
2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste
1/3 cup peas(fresh or frozen)(I used frozen peas)
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
1/2 teaspoon my garam masala
1 cup chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon oil


1.Heat oil in a pan and add the curry leaves and let splutter,then add the onion,salt and turmeric and saute until onions get translucent(about 4-5 minutes).

2.Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for about 2 minutes on a medium flame until the raw smell of it goes away.

3.Add the tomatoes and saute until soft.(If using fresh peas add them before the tomato and saute for 3-4 minutes).

4.Add the spice powders, mix well for about 1 minute.

5.Add the minced meat and mix well until the curry and the meat are combined.

6.Add water and peas and cover and let cook for about 12 minutes.

Adjust salt and spices and lastly before turning off the stove add the cilantro and turn off.
