Congress senior leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has alleged that the TRS came to power with the assurance of waiver of farmers’ loans, but the same TRS government was treating the farmers as beggars.
Speaking at the Gandhi statue in Assembly premises here on Monday during the Congress MLAs dharna protesting against their suspension for the remaining days of the monsoon session, Komatireddy demanded the government to clear the farmers’ loans at one go. He asked the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to introspect as to what he had spoken in the 107 meetings conducted before the elections.
Stating that the Congress party was not politicizing the farmers’ suicides, the former Minister said that there were no elections as of now to politicize the issue. He made it clear that the Congress party was ready for any sort of sacrifices for the sake of farmers. He said that the Congress party was planning to give a bandh call on October 10 in case the government failed to waive the farmers’ loan at one strike.
Congress party has decided to visit the districts where the farmers committed suicides. The Congress leaders will visit Mahabubnagar on October 6, Medak on October 7, Karimnagar on October 8, and Warangal on October 9, he said. (NSS)
