KCR hold review meeting on liquor policy

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday directed the officials to continue the existing Excise Policy as the State Government has decided to scrap the proposed new policy from October 1.

The Chief Minister, who held the review meeting at his camp office on Sunday, reportedly told officials that the existing policy would continue with some modifications. The government is proposing some minor changes in the licensing rules. Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud submitted a report to the Chief Minister on the policy to be implemented from October 1.

It may be mentioned that the State Cabinet has decided to scrap the proposed cheap liquor policy in view of strong opposition from all quarters. KCR has assured that the government would take measures to eradicate the menace of ‘gudamba’ without introducing cheap liquor, as proposed earlier. (INN)
