KCR condemns Naidu’s remarks on Hyderabadi culture

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has strongly condemned the remarks of his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu on the people and culture of Hyderabad.

Naidu, while addressing a meeting at Rajahmundry on Tuesday, has reportedly remarked that Hyderabad people had no culture and were habituated to getting up late in the morning. They became active only because of late N.T.Rama Rao.

Reacting to these remarks, KCR reminded Naidu that Telangana is now a separate State and he has no business to comment on its people. “You can criticise or harm KCR, but you are not allowed to speak anything against the culture of Telangana. Hyderabad city was built by our ancestors keeping in view the needs of future generations. You can emulate us and build your capital Amravathi on the same lines,” KCR said.

KCR said Hyderabad has a rich history and culture and it could not be compared with any other city in the country. He said Hyderabad has a unique identity of its own and it was ridiculous on the part of Chandrababu Naidu to compare it with yet-to-be-built Amravathi. He said Naidu should focus on the construction of the new capital. Else, he threatened that people of Telangana would teach him a fitting lesson.

The Chief Minister was speaking at an event organised to mark 91st birth anniversary of noted Telangana poet and literary icon Dasharathi Krishnamacharyas at Ravindra Bharathi. He also felicitated his Teacher Tirumala Srinivasacharya with a shawl and handed over Rs 1.16 lakh to him on the occasion. He promised that the Telangana Government would come with a policy to promote Telangana’s literature, poetry, culture and tradition.

Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhan Chary, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Gnanpeeth Awardee Dr C Narayan Reddy and Government Advisor KV Ramanachary also attended the program. (INN)
