KCR ALLOCATES RS 10 CR FOR BONALU FESTIVAL

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday sanctioned Rs 10 crore for Bonalu festival being celebrated in the twin cities in traditional fervour and gaiety.

In a review meeting at camp office here on Monday, the Chief Minster constituted a committee to be headed by Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, while Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Endowments Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud, Talasani Srinivas Yadav will be the members to monitor the arrangements. The Chief Minister directed the officials to make the best of the arrangements to ensure women, children and elderly persons visit the temples to perform the rituals. Besides illuminating all the temples in the twin cities, facilities like water, power should be provided for the smooth conduct of the festivities while the roads must be maintained clean and up to the mark, he said.

KCR directed the officials concerned to conduct the State festival Bonalu in a peaceful manner to reflect the tradition. Asking the Finance Secretary Pradeep Chandra to immediately release the funds for the arrangements, he said Endowments department would spend Rs 5 crore while the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will share Rs 5 crore burden for the Bonalu festivities.
