Karne accuses Oppn of shedding croc tears on ryots’ suicides

TRS leader Karne Prabhakar today accused the Opposition parties of shedding crocodile tears on suicides by farmers.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Karne Prabhakar alleged that the Congress and Telugu Desam parties are trying to resort to mudslinging activity for political mileage. He ridiculed those parties for making a hue and cry against the government, which was giving top priority to welfare and development. He claimed that the Government allocated Rs 17,000 crore towards crop loan waiver besides implementing non-manifesto items.

The TRS leader attributed the current pathetic condition of the farmers to the misrule of previous governments which claimed the toll of 26,000 farmers. Then Congress Government had resorted to latchi-charge on the farmers for seeking crop loan waiver, he said, adding that they must not come in the way of development. He also recalled that the Telugu Desam Government made the police to open fire on the protestors at Basheerbagh for demanding withdrawal of power tariff hike, he alleged.

Expressing surprise over their comments against the State government, Prabhakar said due to criminal negligence and lopsided policies of the previous governments, the farmers’ suicides were continuing unabated. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was trying his best to implement a wide variety of welfare schemes and development programs, he claimed. To help the farmers and the people, KCR was coming up with the projects with design change and efforts are being made to complete them on a war-footing with proper plans, he said.

The State government, he said, was spending huge amounts for restoration of some 46,000 lakes, water grid to provide water to every household, pensions to widows, old age persons and physically handicapped. Instead of confusing the farmers, the Opposition leaders should come forward to convince them to stop ending their lives, he said. He also flayed the TD Government for ignoring the Agriculture sector and giving undue importance for high technology publicity, he charged. (NSS)
