The ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’ scheme launched by the Telangana State Government has benefited as many as 76,054 poor families in the State so far.
According to official sources, over 60,000 girls were benefited under the scheme during the current financial year so far. Brides belonging to Minorities, SCs and STs were given Rs.51,000 each towards wedding expenses, etc., under the scheme. As against 85,956 persons who applied for benefit under the scheme, 76,054 were granted the amount, since it was launched 14 months back. Of the beneficiaries, Muslim girls number 30,201, SC girls 29,931 and ST girls 15,922.
As the awareness about the scheme was increasing, more number of parents were applying for the financial assistance, the official sources said.(NSS)
