Kalam led a simple life even as President: JP

Stating that former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who died of massive heart attack on Monday evening, worked every minute for development of every child, irrespective of caste, religion, region, language, money and political background, Loksatta Party has stated.

In a pressnote here today, Loksatta founder-president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, stated that Kalam was a real secular person and he had real strength to overcome from the problems. Kalam influenced people in a big way than any politician, he said and opined that the real condolence to Kalam was to fill the gap between the political system, which has to fulfill the aspirations of the people, and the heartfelt condolences from the people to Kalam.

Jayaprakash stated Abdul Kalam, who was born in a poor Muslim family rose to the highest position in the country and turned his life as a message to every one. Kalam emulated Mahatma Gandhi and practised what he preached. Kalam was the person, who toiled for the nation’s construction after the nation got freedom.

JP recalled Kalam’s determination to prevent entry of people with criminal background into EMRI, LV Prasad Eye Hospital Boards. Kalam always hoped that India will become a great country and he preached his opinions with a smile. Even after becoming 11th President of India, Kalam led a simple life. He always taught new things to the children and showed his learning attitude every time.

JP said Kalam not only believed in nation’s interests but also practised his beliefs. He said Kalam’s sudden demise was a huge loss to the nation. Kalam had stated “We have to develop the system to grow every child without any discrimination taking spirit from Kalam”. (NSS)
