K. L. Rahul leads India fightback in Colombo

Colombo, Aug.20 : Opener K.L Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli put India back on track after the early blows from Sri Lankan pacer Dhamika Prasad on the first day of second Test at P.Sara Oval on Thursday.

Kohli, who registered his 11th fifty, was dismissed after scoring a brilliant 78, thanks to a brilliant catch taken by his Sri Lankan counterpart at first slip.

Coming together at 12 for 2, the duo shared a prolific 164-run stand and brought India out of danger zone.

Out of form batsman Rohit Sharma, who joined Rahul just before Tea, looked tentative but managed to survive a few close moments before playing his shots.

Rahul, who is nearing his second international century, looked very comfortable at the crease.

At tea, India were at 206-3 with Rahul and Sharma unbeaten at 98 and 17 respectively. (ANI)
