JP disciples compromised with ideology for power: Shah

Sitabdiara (Saran)/Rohtas :BJP president Amit Shah today chose the occasion of Jayaprakash Narayan’s birth anniversary to attack Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar and accused them of compromising with JP’s ideology and principles for the sake of “power”.

“I cannot fathom that a person can change a lot and can compromise with the principles of JP, Ram Manohar Lohia and Karpoori Thakur’s anti-Congressism. People, who fought against Congress throughout their lives in politics, simply compromised with JP’s principles and aligned with Congress party just to remain in power.

“Both RJD president Lalu Prasad and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar started their career on anti-Congress plank and rose in politics in that way but now they are with the Congress for the lust of power,” he said.

Training his guns at Congress, Shah said it tried to confine the country’s politics to just one family and hence never thought of constructing memorials of great persons like JP who devoted his entire life to the nation and the society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government has decided to make a memorial on Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan, the BJP chief said while addressing a gathering a few meters away from JP’s house in Sitab Diara’s Lala Tola.

India is today world’s largest democracy and it is because of JP alone, the BJP chief said, adding that had he not led the movement against emergency, democracy in India would have been crushed.

Besides Shah, Union ministers Ananth Kumar and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, state BJP chief Mangal Pandey were in JP’s birthplace to pay homage to the great leader.

Addressing a rally at Dinara in Rohtas district later, Shah said Kumar has always been doing politics of ‘betrayal’.

“For the sake of power, he compromised with Lalu against whose ‘jungle raj’ he (Nitish) fought for several years. He betrayed JP, Lohia, Karpoori Thakur by joining hands with Congress. Besides, he betrayed socialist leader George Fernandes and the popular mandate of 2010 Assembly elections. And the latest victim of Nitish Kumar’s betrayal is the son of a Dalit (Jitan Ram Manjhi),” Shah said.

“The Prime Minister has announced a package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for the state’s development. It is the PM’s commitment to make Bihar the best in all respects,” he added.
