Badaun: Infuriated over the marriage of his beloved to someone else, a jilted lover hacked to death the girl’s mother and seriously injured another relative in Muravan ka Nagla under Ujhani police station area here, police said on Thursday.
Last night Chandan barged into the house of the girl, who had come home after her marriage on November 22, and tried take her away forcibly, police said.
When she raised an alarm, the accused attacked her mother, Munni Devi (60) with an axe, killing her on the spot, they said.
The girl’s sister-in-law was also injured in the attack and has been referred to a Bareilly hospital for treatment.
Chandan was in love with the girl and had been following her for a long time. He was upset over her wedding with someone else, police said.
A hunt has been launched to nab Chandan, they added.
