Gupta also said that Sayeed continued to be on antibiotics, antifungal drugs and supportive therapy and is being closely monitored by a team of experts.

The 79-year-old leader was flown to the national capital from Jammu and Kashmir on December 24 as he suffered from fever. He is a patient of acute diabetes and has been on a routine check up every month at the institution.

However, he was admitted to AIIMS after his condition deteriorated. A team constituted under Ashraf Ganie of the endocrinology department of the hospital is monitoring him.
