Jammu and Kashmir Governor discusses ceasefire violations with NSA Ajit Doval

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on Sunday discussed the ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC), which claimed the lives of six civilians, with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The Governor discussed the ceasefire violations with the National Security Advisor over phone, a Raj Bhavan spokesman said. Vohra also called Army Northern Commander Lt Gen D S Hooda to discuss the issue, he said.

The Governor expressed deep regret over the heavy mortar shelling on civilian targets along the LoC in Poonch sector which resulted in injuring and killing of several innocent villagers, the spokesman added. Vohra conveyed his sympathy to the next of kin of the six innocent civilians who lost their lives and wished early recovery of those who sustained serious injuries, he said.

A woman was killed and five persons were injured today as Pakistani troops intensified shelling on border posts and civilian area in Poonch and Rajouri in continued ceasefire violations that have claimed six lives in two days, drawing strong protest from India.
