Jammu and Kashmir: 3 cops injured as locals pelt stones after road mishap

Srinagar, Aug 5: Three cops, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, were injured today after people resorted to stone pelting following an accident involving an Army vehicle,
which left four civilians injured in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Police said the Army truck collided with one mini- passenger vehicle at Gund Khuru village of Langate in Handwara area of the district today in which four civilians were injured.

The injured were shifted here for treatment, the police said. After the incident a mob of about 40-50 people started pelting stones on security forces in which three police personnel – a Deputy Superintendent, a sub-inspector and a constable – were injured.

They have also been taken to a hospital for treatment, the police said
