Jail security tightened across Bangladesh after killing of two foreigners

Dhaka, Oct. 8 : In the light of the recent killing of two foreigners in Bangladesh, security has been strengthened in all jails across the country.

According to The Daily Star, Inspector General of Prisons, Brigadier General Syed Iftekhar Uddin has said jail authorities are vigilant and on alert after the murders.

Though, no formal instruction has been passed by the government, steps have been taken by the authorities to protect the foreign prisoners, he added.

There are a total of 514 foreign prisoners in jails across the country.

Bangladesh witnessed death of Cesare Tavella, an Italian aid worker and Kunio Hoshi, a Japanese agriculture worker in two different fatal attacks last week. (ANI)
