Jagruthi to pay Rs 2,500 to farmers’ kin: Kavitha

Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha today rubbished the allegations of Telangana TDP leaders that Telangana Jagruthi was involved in irregularities.

Speaking at a program, Kavitha  said the TDP was leveling false allegations against Jagruthi as part of nasty politics. “Just like Basava Tarakam Cancer Trust, the Jagruthi was offering services to the people on humanitarian grounds”, she said.

She also said hectic arrangements were being made for the State festival “Bathukamma” from October 12. Jagruthi gets support from NRIs and will continue to offer services to the poor, she said. She also said Jagruthi will offer Rs 2500 per month to the rest of the deceased’s families of farmers. She said the government got information about 798 suicides by the farmers in the State and ex gratia was paid to 309. She also said the Jagruthi had decided to offer monthly amount for four years to 389 families, who did not get financial assistance from the government.

On the agitating Asha workers’ issue, the TRS MP said the matter was under the purview of the Centre. The State Government cannot take a decision on the demand of Asha workers for pay hike, she said and advised them to resume duties so that the TRS government would take up their issue with the Centre.
