Jagan to sit on dharna on Aug. 26 against forcible take over of farm land

The YSR Congress Party has decided to stage dharnas against forcible acquisition of farm lands for Amaravathi, new capital for Andhra Pradesh.

YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would sit on dharna on August 26 under the CRDA limits, said party leader Parthsarthy here. “Our party was not against development of the new capital city. But farmers’ lands should not be taken forcibly”, he said.

Condemning the policy of the TDP government to acquire multi-crop farm lands forcibly, the YSRCP leader said so far 33,000 acres’ land has been acquired by the Chandrababu Naidu government. Though there was government land admeasuring about 30,000 to 35,000 was available, the AP government wanted to acquire another 3,000 acres 0f land from the farmers.

Describing Nara Chandrababu Naidu as “anti-poor” and “anti-farmers”, Parthasarthy demanded that the Centre and the Governor intervene in this regard. (NSS)
