Jagan refuses to attend Amaravathi function

In an open letter to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly and YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has asked the former not to send him an invitation for foundation laying ceremony at Amaravathi.

In a letter faxed to the Chief Minister, Jagan stated, “Do not send me invitation. I will not attend the function even If I received it”.

Jagan stated there were eight reasons for him not to attend the function at Amaravathi. They are: taking over fertile lands of poor farmers without their consent, implementation of Section 30, prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in the proposed new capital city, neglect of court orders and people’s sentiments on green tribunal. He also alleged that “laying foundation was not to build a people’s capital. It was a real estate business. Since it is against the people, YSR Congress Party is opposed to the foundation laying ceremony for new capital at Amaravathi. (NSS)
