Jagan denied permission to hold hunger strike

The Guntur District authorities on Wednesday denied permission to YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to hold an indefinite hunger strike from September 26 demanding Special Status for Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, the Guntur authorities said that the permission was being denied as there were several schools and hospitals near the proposed venue. They also said that the immersion of the Ganesh idols would also be affected due to hunger strike camp. Reacting to the State Government’s decision, YSRCP MLAs Chand Basha and Vishweshwar Reddy said that the TDP Government was afraid of Jagan’s hunger strike and therefore, it denied permission for the same.
