Islam gaining popularity among youngsters of China: International Business Times Survey

Beijing : Many youngsters below 30 years in China are accepting Islam. This has been reported by International Business Times in a survey conducted recently by National Survey Research Center at Beijing’s Renmin University.

 

Despite the rule of Atheist Communist Party in China, the youngsters are being attracted towards Islam. Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism and Protestantism are the largest recognized religions of China. The survey revealed 22.4% of the respondents their choice of Islam.

 

Wei Dedong, Professor of Buddhist Studies at the School of Philosophy at Renmin University expressed his views that the government China has been taking greater interest to maintain cordial relations with local leaders and religious denominations. However recently imposed restrictions by the government of China hamper freedom to practice religion.

 

Xinjiang province of Western China has predominantly Muslim population. The local government put restrictions on Children, teachers and Govt. employees on fasting during the holy month of Ramazan.
