Iran’s supreme legislation body endorses n-deal

Tehran: Iran’s Guardian Council on Wednesday endorsed the recent support of the Iranian parliament to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

On Tuesday, Iran’s parliament (Majlis) approved a legislation which asked the government to implement the recent nuclear deal reached by Iran and world powers.

In its Wednesday meeting, the Guardian Council, the highest legislative body of the country, examined the Majlis approval of the JCPOA, the report said.

With the endorsement of the Majlis motion by the Guardian Council, it is turned into a mandatory law to be adopted by President Hassan Rouhani’s government.

On Tuesday, Rouhani also said after the Iranian legislative bodies’ endorsement of the nuclear deal, Iran and the P5+1 group — including five permanent members of UN Security Council plus Germany — would start implementation of the JCPOA in the following week.

Under the JCPOA, Iran would improve the transparency of its nuclear power plan while freezing some of its nuclear activities in exchange for international and Western sanctions relief.
