Injured Boult `doubtful` for historic day-night Test

Melbourne, Nov.23 : Trent Boult is in doubt to play in the historic day and night Test against Australia as the New Zealand swing specialist is still recovering from a disc irritation.

Reflecting on the matter, team coach Mike Hesson insisted that the 26-year-old would be considered for the Adelaide Test if he was able to bowl flat out two days from the match, News.com.au reported.

Hesson admitted that Boult would turn out to be really good for his side if he bowls on top of his game.

Boult, who suffered a stress-related injury earlier this year, had also failed to bowl in this weekend’s day-night tour match against a Western Australia XI in Perth.

Earlier, Tim Southee was forced to leave the field due to back injury during the first Test, but he was recalled for the second Test after proving his fitness.

The fast bowler struggled during the ongoing series as Australian batsmen wreaked havoc on him in both Tests at the Gabba and WACA.

New Zealand are currently trailing 0-1 in the three-match series and will be looking to level the series in Adelaide, which is to be played with pink ball from Friday. (ANI)
