‘Injection psycho’ creates panic in Andhra, 11 women attacked

Rajahmundry (AP): A pschyopath who triggered panic by targeting women and young girls with an injection has allegedly attacked 11 women in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district, police said.
“So far 11 cases of attacking women have been registered in various police stations of the district. The psycho is attacking women with an ‘injection’,” Narsapuram Deputy Superintendent of Police Sowmaya Latha said today.

“All efforts are on to nab the person who has created panic in the district for the last one week,” she said, adding that over 40 special teams have been formed to nab him.

The person allegedly injected some unknown substance into the victims and escaped from the spot, in the incidents that have come to light so far, police said.

Some of the victims later rushed to hospital. They were discharged after being treated for the needle prick. However, they did not suffer from any other illness after that, the DSP said.

“We have released a sketch (made based on inputs provided by the victims) of the man and police have also intensified searches to nab him,” she said.

The police officer also said that a needle left behind by the accused during an attack was recovered and sent for testing. However, no medicine or substance was found in it, she said.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (Law and order) R P Thakur has announced a reward of Rs one lakh for anyone who could help the police in nabbing the culprit.

West Godavari District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan also asked the people not to panic and urged them to provide any concrete information about the person to police.
