Initiatives started for the formation of new districts in Telangana

Hyderabad: According to officials sources, there is a possibility of adding 10-14 more district to Telangana State as per the acts of reorganization of districts, a district could be constituted for a population of 19 lakh. Telangana State had 10 districts in which 3.6 crore population has been recorded. State cabinet has taken a decision to constitute a few more districts. It may be noted that 37 years back, Ranga Reddy District was carved out of Hyderabad District in 1978. Since then no new district was formed.

Officials have already started working out this issue. As per section 3 of A.P. District Formation Act, new districts would be formed. If 10 more districts are added to Telangana State, there will be a need for 40 IAS officers.

Reliable sources indicated that after the reorganization of districts, Govt. of Telangana would request the Central Govt. for deputing more IAS Officers. In the process of formation of new districts, the assurances given by Mr. KCR have to be borne in mind. The issue of bifurcation of Khammam, Adilabad districts may also pose a major problem. Mr. KCR had given an assurance that Jagtiyal, Siddipet, Chevella and Manchiriyal would be made districts. The officials related to this process are taking into consideration all these issues. It is expected that very soon a notification would be issued for the formation of new districts.
