Indian student dies in China

BEIJING: A 22-year-old Indian medical student died in a road accident in China and his body has been sent home, Indian officials here said on Saturday.

Kamal Kumar studying medicine at Taishan medical college in Taian city in Shandong province died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on October 12.

Two of his Indian friends also sustained minor injuries in the accident, officials of the Indian Embassy here said.

The college informed Kumar’s parents from Sahara village near Agra about the accident, the officials said.

The body has been flown to Delhi on October 21 after completion of all formalities, they said expressing surprise over reports that the family has not been informed about the death.

The family has not raised any issue with the Embassy so far, they said.

Reports from India said that Kumar’s parents were told that he was only injured in the accident.
