Indian artists to attend international art fair

New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS) A significant presence of Indian artists and galleries will be seen at the third edition of global contemporary and modern art fair in Istanbul, Art International, from September 4-6, a statement from the organizers said.

The edition has been launched at the Halic Congress Center. It will feature 87 galleries representing 27 countries.

Works by more than 400 of the world’s most innovative artists from Europe, North America, the Middle East, Central Asia, India and China will be on display.

Highlighting the increasingly global profile of Indian art and collectors, there will be a significant presence of Indian and South Asian artists and galleries, the statement said.

Sakshi Gallery, a leading Mumbai gallery, will showcase a mural work of illustrious international artist El Anatsui and Mumbai’s Rukshaan Art will present the works of Indian artist, Girjesh Kumar Singh apart from others.

Sandy Angus, co-founder of the art fair said: “Art International continues to grow in stature as the pre eminent contemporary art fair in the region.”

The fair is a unique combination enhancing the reputation of Istanbul as the main cultural centre for the region, Angus added.
