India wants peace on the border, says Rijiju

Nagpur: Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday asserted that India wants peace on the border and the safety of civilians is the government’s priority.

He expressed his concern over the latest ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in the Krishna Ghati Sector in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir this morning.

“We want peace in the border and the safety of the civilians is our priority and it will be maintained,” Rijiju told media here.

“There are many reasons for firing. If there is unprovoked firing, we give appropriate response. Both the DGs had their meeting in Delhi and met me and the Home Minister. They had signed some protocol. We hope that the protocol is followed,” he added.

Indian troops guarding the border retaliated effectively to the unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops.

No casualty has been reported as of now. (ANI)
