India, US capable of shaping future of Asia Pacific: Top American diplomat

New Delhi: India and the US have the ability to shape the future of Asia Pacific, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs in the US Department of State Nisha Desai Biswal has said.

She asserted that the US has made a long bet on India as a crucial partner in advancing their collective security interest in South Asia.

Biswal was addressing an annual meeting of Association of the US Army in Washington.

She said that US conducts more military exercises with India than any other country and that the US is fast becoming India’s biggest defence partner.

Biswal also referred to the Joint Strategic Vision for the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean Region laid out by US President Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year. (ANI)
