India outclass Spain 4-2 in third hockey Test, clinch series 2-1

New Delhi, Aug 13 : Ramandeep Singh scored a magnificent brace as India defeated Spain 4-2 in the third and final match of the hockey series on Thursday, to finish the European tour on a successful note.

Rupinder Pal Singh put India ahead in the 24th minute by scoring his 50th career goal through a penalty corner before Ricardo Santana scored an equaliser for Spain one minute later.

Subsequently, Akashdeep Singh restored one goal lead in the 45th minute before Xavier Lleonart levelled for the hosts again four minutes later.

The evenly poised game turned out to be a stunning affair in the fourth quarter when Ramandeep netted two goals within the space of a minute to steer home to victory.

India had started their European tour in an imperious style after claiming a 2-0 series win over France before venturing into Spain.

This was a preparatory tour for the upcoming World League Final which will be held in India later this year. India have already booked their spot for next year’s Rio Olympics. (ANI)
