‘India is a land of opportunities’: PM Modi tells UAE investors

Abu Dhabi : Asserting that India is a land of opportunities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the 125 crore of Indian population is not only a market but also a source of great strength.

Addressing the investors and businessmen at Masdar planned city, Prime Minister Modi said the innumerable opportunities available in India combined with UAE’s potential can fulfil the dream of making 21st century the century of Asia.

“It is now commonly believed that India is one of the fastest growing economies,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to reach out to the Indian disapora in UAE.

“I was told about some problems being faced by the Indian diaspora living here. I want to assure that we are solving these problems,” he added.

The Prime Minister emphasized there is a great demand for technology, speed and quality construction in India as he dreams of constructing 50 million low cost houses by 2022.

“We want technology, speed and quality construction when it comes to housing. Low cost housing is very important for us. We want to construct 50 million low cost houses in seven years in India,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi further said there is today an immediate possibility of one trillion dollars of investment in India.

“India has never tapped the potential of tourism. There is a lot of possibility in hospitality industry,” he added.

The Prime Minister earlier visited the Masdar planned city, which is an eco-friendly zone relying on solar and other renewable energy sources for its energy requirements.

Prime Minister Modi would address the Indian diaspora at the Dubai cricket stadium later today. Over 30,000 people are expected to attend the event.

Prime Minister Modi had bilateral talks with the President of United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi yesterday.

He discussed investment opportunities over the high-level dinner hosted by Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. (ANI)
