India and Pakistan should continue talking: Yechury

New Delhi, Aug. 22 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) on Saturday said India and Pakistan should continue with talking.

CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said the government must come clear on Pakistani’s claims.

“I hope both governments will decide that there should be a process of continuing this talk, what is the truth, what is not the truth, what are the Pakistani claims.let this government answer. We do not know. Unless we know that, there is no way anybody else can comment,” Yechury told ANI here.

Yechury further said there are different views on the Ufa statement from India and Pakistan and now, it is up to the government to tell the nation about the factor.

“The process of talks should continue because that is the only way we have to deescalate the current tensions which are arising. This is not in the interest of the people of either country. They have to come to an understanding of what they have to discuss, and, these are issues which should be settled before official talks actually take place,” he added.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier issued a statement, saying that its high commissioner’s invitation to the Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership on August 23 was very much in keeping with the practice and tradition of the past many years.

While the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) sent across a strong message to Pakistan , insisting that there are only two stakeholders in the talks between the two Asian neighbours, and added that New Delhi is committed to discuss the issues peacefully and bilaterally. (ANI)
