Minority Welfare Department has prepared the scheme under which Imams and Muezzins of 5000 masajid in Telangana will get Rs. 1000 honourarium per month. Notification schedule will be issued soon after Chief Minister’s approval.
On the occasion of Ramadan Government had announced to pay honourarium to Imams and Muezzins and Rs. 12 Cr were released to Waqf Board in this connection. The scheme will be implemented by Waqf Board and it is likely that chief minister will sanction the scheme within two days.
Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel after consultation with Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board Mohammed Asadullah has finalised the guidelines. Earlier it was proposed to include only masajid registered under Waqf however Secretary Minority Welfare has decided to include other masajid also.
