IAS officer deposes before court in bribery case

Muzaffarnagar: Senior IAS officer Santosh Yadav today deposed before a court here in connection with a bribery case, registered when he was the district magistrate of Muzaffarnagar.

Yadav was examined as a witness in the case.
Additional sessions judge Rajbir Singh adjourned the matter till October 21 for further hearing.

According to the prosecution, executive engineer of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam S K Bhardwaj was arrested for offering bribe of Rs 50,000 to the then district magistrate Yadav as new year gift in 2011.

The engineer had gone to the district magistrate’s residence on January 1 and offered him a packet containing Rs 50,000 in cash, after which the official was arrested, the prosecution said.
