I wanted to join IS and wage a war against India: Salman Mohiuddin

Salman Mohiuddin (32) who was arrested from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad said that he wanted to join IS to wage a war against India.

 

“I felt that western countries are plundering Muslim property and the solution is Islamic State, which follows Sharia law” Salman said during interrogation. Salman, an Electronics Engineer and a father of two, who had return Hyderabad from US over visa issue was about to fly to Dubai, from where he planned to reach Syria via Turkey to join the IS, when he was arrested from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. During his interrogation, he confessed that he have been attracted to the IS as he faced discrimination in the US.

 

Salman, son of a retired Chief Engineer of the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board, Mohiuddin completed his B.Tech from Anwar-ul-Uloom College of Engineering and Technology in Vikarabad. In 2007, he got married and had two children, a daughter and a son. In 2010, he left for US to do MS from Texas Southern University in Houston. Then he worked for two years as Desktop Support Engineer at Oilfield Service Company Baker Hughes in Texas. While he was working in Texas, he met with a lady, Nicky Joseph online. She was in Dubai. She claimed that she converted to Islam from Christianity and wanted to marry a Muslim man. When Salman proposed her, she agreed. Later both decided to join IS.

 

However, Afsha Jabeen, an Indian-origin and a mother of three, after the arrest initially denied any plan of accompanying Salman to Syria but later confessed that she pretended to be Nicky Joseph and told Salman that she wanted to marry a Muslim man.
