New Delhi :Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadava and Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday complained about Delhi Police high-handedness to media.

Speaking to reporters, Yogendra Yadav said, “The entire nation saw how I was dragged and pulled when all we were doing was fighting for the farmers. I am surprised at what is happening, SHO gave us life threats.”

The former AAP leader was held yesterday night and was released this afternoon.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday condemned the treatment meted out to former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav by the city Police saying it is the latter’s fundamental right to protest peacefully.

“I strongly condemn the treatment meted out to Yogendraji by Delhi police. They were protesting peacefully. It is their fundamental right,” Kejriwal tweeted.

The ex-AAP leader was detained by the Delhi Police during a farmers’ protest at Jantar Mantar last night.

Yadav, who was trying to march towards the Prime Minister’s official 7 Race Course Road residence, has alleged that he was “brutally assaulted”.

Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday welcomed the Aam Aadmi Party’s support against the detention of former party leader Yogendra Yadav by the Delhi Police.

“We welcome AAP’s as well as any other political party’s support which is agitated about the manner in which peaceful protest of farmers is being throttled,” said Bhushan.

The AAP will be raising the issue ofYogendra Yadav’s detention in the Parliament today.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier condemned the treatment meted out to Yadav by the city Police saying it is the latter’s fundamental right to protest peacefully.
