Hindustan Power starts 360 MW supply to UP from Anuppur plant

Terming itself the first power producer among companies that signed purchase agreements last year with Uttar Pradesh, Hindustan Powerprojects has said it has started supply of over 360 MW from the Anuppur thermal power project.

“Hindustan Powerprojects has commenced supply of 361 MW power to Uttar Pradesh from its flagship 2,520 MW Anuppur thermal power project more than a year ahead of schedule,” the company said in a release here.

Chairman Ratul Puri, who, the company announced on Tuesday has been named CEO of 2015 by the Thailand-based Asian Power Awards, said: “The UP government has followed a well thought-out strategy to solve the state’s challenging energy situation. We are delighted about being part of UP’s Vision 2016 and our contribution to it.”

The power is being supplied through the recently-commissioned West-North Inter-Regional link (765 kV Gwalior-Jaipur Transmission Line), the company said.

The total capacity of the Anuppur thermal plant in Madhya is 2,520 MW, to be developed in two phases of 1,200 MW (2×600 MW) and 1,320 MW (2×660 MW).

“The unit-1 of the first phase has been commissioned at a very competitive cost,” the statement added.

Hindustan Powerprojects, which has diversified into renewable energy, also said its 50 MW solar project commissioned at Charanka, Gujarat has been awarded the silver prize in the Solar Power of the Year 2015 category of the Asian Power Awards.
