High alert in Delhi; security tightened at foreign missions

New Delhi: In the wake of Friday’s terror attacks in Paris, a hugh alert has been sounded in the national capital with the Delhi Police ensuring tight security at all foreign embassies and consulates here along with airports and railway stations.

Police sources said on Sunday that strict vigil has been put in place outside all embassies and high commissions in Delhi with additional gun-toting security personnel.

“Apart from foreign missions, security has also been tightened outside airports, railway stations, bus terminus, markets and religious places,” a police official said.

The official said security of foreign missions was tightened as a precautionary measure after intelligence inputs of their being possible targets by terror outfits.

Security was beefed two days after a series of terror attacks in Paris targeting concert-goers, football fans and people enjoying a Friday night-out left at least 129 people dead.
