Guv meets Rajnath, Centre to resolve HC ‘row’

Governor ESL Narasimhan, who is on a two-day visit in the national capital, today said the ‘media’ was creating problems between two Telugu-speaking States. There are no problems actually, but the media was spoiling the atmosphere, he felt while interacting with mediapersons near Parliament House on Saturday.

Summoned by the Centre, the Governor today reportedly met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Secretary L C Goel in Delhi and apprised them of repatriation of electricity employees’ row and bifurcation of the apex court and officials.

Narasimhan later said the issue related to repatriation of electricity employees will be resolved soon. The issue of 1,200 electricity employees of AP, who were relieved by Telangana Government, is in High Court and verdict is yet to come. The Governor is said to have informed the Centre about the two governments disowning this issue as the ball is in the court while the employees are in jeopardy.

It is pertinent to note that the Governor apprised this issue as well as other two issues of High Court division being sought by TRS MPs, who raised their voice in Parliament, while their AP counterparts built up ante on the Centre for special status. The Centre is likely to take a final call on bifurcation of High Court and officials’ division after taking cognizance of Narasimhan’s report. (NSS)
