Gurgaon councillor’s driver shot dead

Gurgaon: The driver of a Gurgaon councillor was shot dead allegedly over an old rivalry, triggering a retaliatory attack in which another man was shot at and injured, police said today.

Ashok Kumar was found dead in a Swift car parked near Independent councillor Binder Gujjar’s house on Basai road this morning, a police spokesman said.

There were marks of bullet injuries on the body. Kumar might have been murdered last night or early this morning, but it would be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received, he said.

Gujjar in an FIR accused Sandeep Gadauli and his men of murdering Kumar, police said.

After Kumar’s body was found, one of Gadauli’s men, Manish Khurana, was shot at and injured allegedly by Gujjar’s associates at around 9:30 am, the police spokesman said quoting from the complaint filed by Khurana.

Police said they have arrested two of Gujjar’s associates — Durgesh (33) and Manoj for attacking Khurana.

Gujjar is councillor from Ward No 21.
