With an objective to ensure a smooth conduct of the winter session of Parliament and passage of several important bills,Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a meeting with former prime minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi at his residence at 7, Race Course Road, to discuss various impending issues with them.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu were also present at the meeting.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Jaitley said, “There was also a discussion on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, wherein the Congress leaders gave their suggestions, and we also told them our opinion.”
“There is a possibility that we may again meet to discuss the GST. After the Congress leaders discuss the issue within their party, a fresh meeting between the Government and them will take place,” said Jaitley. (ANI)
