Govt alerts officials on rains

In the wake of heavy rains lashing out the twin cities and adjoining areas for the last two days inundating low-lying areas, the Telangana government directed the officials to tackle the situation in coordination with GHMC officials. A few teams comprising rescue and NDRF were pressed into service to provide immediate help to the people and attend to thwart any eventuality due to heavy rains.

Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy told reporters at Secretariat that a group of Ministers comprising Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali,  Talasani Srinivas Yadav and T. Padma Rao Goud has taken stock of the situation on the rains. “We have asked the officials to take necessary measures to clear stagnated waters at many places, including the Assembly, Raj Bhavan and other low-lying areas and address rain-related problems, he said.

The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is on a China tour, was reviewing the situation and directed them to take steps on a war-footing to clear storm waters, he said. The people can inform the officials to attend their woes of the rains, he added. (NSS)
