GHMC seeks political parties’ views on electoral rolls

GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer Somesh Kumar has appealed all the political parties to give their objections/ suggestion before 8th September.

To this effect, the Commissioner & Special Officer had a review meeting with the representatives of all the political parties at the GHMC Head Office on Friday. In the meeting, Special Commissioner Navin Mittal and Additional Commissioner Sri Ramakrishna were also present.

The Commissioner said that as per the directions of the Elections Commission of India the electoral rolls, objections and suggestions must be obtained from the political parties in writing, he added. In Hyderabad District about 41 lakhs voters are there out of which 757,000 voters change of residents have been done and 559,000 door lock cases have been identified. About 61,000 voters have been identified as double voters.

So far door locks cases / duplicate / shifted / circle wise have been prepared and the same will be provided to all the political parties. About 153 polling station building are going to be changed and around 9 polling stations names are also going to be changed. By 10th September the electoral rolls have to be completed as per the directions of the Election Commission of India.

From 11th October to 1st November, special awareness campaigns will be conducted during this period and again in the year 2016 January 11, the final list will be published, he added. In the review meeting representatives from TRS, Congress, BJP CPI, CPM and MIM have participated. (INN)
