GHMC officials removed six lakh votes: Congress

Alleging that the GHMC officials have indulged in several irregularities in removing votes in Greater Hyderabad limits, TPCC official spokespersons B Kamalakar Rao and G Niranjan have said the officials have failed to implement the Court directions in this regard.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Kamalakar and Niranjan said the GHMC officials were removing votes by linking Aadhaar Card with voter card though Supreme Court gave a clear verdict not to remove votes on the reason that persons have no Aadhaar Cards. The GHMC officials removed votes stating there were 89,000 duplicate voters and later they removed more than six lakh votes. It is very sad that the GHMC officials have been saying there were 7.9 lakh duplicate voters after the verdict of the Supreme Court, they lamented.

Alleging that the officials have removed a total of 14.02 lakh votes in Greater Hyderabad limits, Kamalakar and Niranjan said the officials were not following the directions of Central Election Commission or the directions of Supreme Court. They said they asked the State Election Commission officials to conduct an all-party meeting before the issuance of election notification. They said they would approach the Court in case the government releases election notification before correcting the voters list. (NSS)
